Having been born and raised in Grand Island, Nebraska, Dr Bernard (Bernie) Douglas was honored to have attended college, medical school and complete his Pediatric Residency at the University of Nebraska. He is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
After Residency, Holdrege, Nebraska became home for Dr. Douglas and his family, where he was given a wonderful opportunity as a Pediatrician. It was there that he fully realized, as a physician, how much he wanted to care for each child as if he were caring for his own.
A desire to bring hope to others led Dr. Douglas and his family on an eight-year overseas mission to Spain, beginning in 1995, where he became fluent in the Spanish Language. After returning home to Omaha in 2004, Dr. Douglas enjoyed teaching medical students and residents as part of the Creighton Medical School Faculty, as well as serving as a Pediatrician at the Creighton Pediatric Clinic.
Dr. Douglas transitioned to The Methodist Health Systems and served as a Pediatrician at Hawthorne Court Pediatric Clinic for almost eight years. Finally, after much consideration, in 2016, Dr. Douglas realized his dream to open a private practice from where he could continue to provide care and medical support to his patients in the surrounding Omaha area.
He and his wife, Debbie, have been married for almost forty years, have nine children and four grandchildren. As a Father, he knows both the joys and concerns of parenting. He considers it a privilege to come alongside of parents, in times of both illness and health, with encouragement and education to provide support and quality health care to their children.
